Maroons March On

Women’s tennis is headed for the final four. Chicago swept doubles, then Kung won in straight sets and Hu in three to lock up a 5–0 victory over sixth-seeded Carnegie. Look for a full recap later tonight on the Maroon’s website.

Amherst may have already won their match, too; if they haven’t, they are ahead and probably will win any moment now, so the Maroons have a date with the country’s top team tomorrow, at 1 p.m CST.

Also, I think comparing results from different days is a terrible way to judge teams’ relative strengths, but: This is a 5–0 win over a Carnegie squad that pressed Emory to 5-4 at the UAA Championships, and Carnegie’s line up was almost the same for both matches. That has to be some indication of how well the Maroons are playing these days. And in any event, a 5–0 win over the six seed is no mean feat.

(It’s worth mentioning too that a few Maroons were in good shape in the DNF matches.)

Stay tuned for more, and check for more pictures from the match today.
