13′ Both teams still searching for an opening. Rochester has won a couple of corner kicks, but the game is still scoreless.

16′ Senior forward Scott Cady takes a knock to the head deep in Maroon territory; a Yellowjacket forward sends a header straight into the arms of Giusto. Still no score.

19′ Welles takes the ball down the right wing and sends a low cross in for Eberhardt, whose hard redirection is just tipped around the post by Giusto. Best save of the game so far, but the Maroons are struggling to put together some offensive sequences. 0-0

22′ Best shot on goal from the Maroons so far; a nice spell of passing play ends up with Clifford, whose left-footed shot from inside the Rochester area just misses the far post.

30′ Maroons catch a break when a clearance attempt by Giusto off a corner kick is headed back toward goal by a Yellowjacket and just bounces off the crossbar and out for a goal kick.

40′ It’s been back and forth so far, but the Maroons win a dangerous free kick 15 yards out. Coville bends it over the wall, but it’s tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Michael Peacock. Rochester forward Cady is assessed a yellow card for his foul preceding the free kick. Still deadlocked with no score, approaching halftime.

44′ Chicago defender Ryan Tunstall earns a yellow card for a hard tackle in the midfield.

Halftime Neither team able to find a breakthrough in the first 45 minutes, but we’ve got an exciting back and forth game on our hands, and we’re expecting more of the same after the break.
