Technical Stuff

On most machines, the playlist file will open automatically in iTunes. If it does not, click on the file, and then select iTunes if you are prompted to choose a program to run it. You may also have software other than iTunes that can execute the file (like Winamp or Real Player). And you can manually start our broadcast in Quicktime or Windows Media Player by going to the “File” menu and selecting to “Open stream” or “Open URL.” Then enter:

Broadcasts do not go live until near game time. You may hear music or static before the game or during halftime. This is normal.

If you encounter any problems with the broadcast, iTunes, or any part of the setup, e-mail us at gomaroons@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

We will be broadcasting the first women’s soccer home game: Saturday, Sept. 5. Unfortunately, if you are looking for Tuesday’s season opener at Depauw, we will not be traveling to cover that one. There is a home men’s game that same day. Tune in!

    Tony –

While we do not broadcast football games, the University of Chicago athletics department does. They have a live video stream set up for tomorrow night’s game against Elmhurst:

Check http://athletics.uchicago.edu before the next game to see if that link has changed. They hope to switch services in the future. All streaming is free.

    Gale –

We do not have plans to broadcast volleyball matches at this time. Unfortunately, we just do not have the manpower to be able to cover all sports. I would encourage you to contact the athletics department to let them know that there is interest in live streaming of volleyball. We have done our best to fill in the gaps for soccer, baseball and softball.

The UAA requires video of championship events, so when Chicago hosts the conference championships, there will be live coverage. And we might try to get a match or two in this season from our end, but you will have to stay tuned for any announcements.

    Thanks!

Three cheers for the U. of Chicago. It is pouring rain here in Hattiesburg, MS, but I am still able to enjoy the great win. Listening for my granddaughter’s name (yes, you mentioned Claire Gill frequently–thanks!!) Keep up the good work–it is most enjoyable for those of us who are unable to follow in the stands.

Great work streaming the audio for the game. FYI, you’re breaking up very bad on the field interviews. Only getting about one syllable out of 10. Maybe a mic problem.

I’m a Blackberry newbie. I drive for a living. I’d like to listen to your broadcast as I’m working Friday.

Is it possible to hear your broadcast of the ncaa tourney games this weekend on a blackberry?

If so, do I need special software?

      Thanks

Richard — You MIGHT be able to. We’ve had more success with iPhones than Blackberries, but the newest ones can stream the broadcasts. E-mail us at gomaroons@gmail.com, and we can give you more details.

thank you for your interest in listening. While iTunes is an apple product, it works for windows. You just need to download and install the program. Otherwise you can use windows media player or realplayer if you read our additional instructions. We would be happy to assist you at gomaroons@gmail.com though 60 minutes have gone by this game.

I am having problems determining your colors other than maroon. Also your nickname, mascot, etc. Is it the Maroons? It is the first time I have visited the Website.

Yea, our mascot is actually just the Maroons. Well, the actual mascot is a phoenix, but the team name is the Maroons.
